I'm not questioning the purpose or the meaning of my life, I know that already, I'm questioning the bigger pic here.I have wondered about that too, for a long time. I do think their existence has a point in the collective consciousness, even if it is to raise awareness to the humanity's dark side that most of us too easily sweep it underneath the carpet instead of facing it. It is a reminder that we all have dark sides and a warning to not become like that, if ever tempted (I mean especially those without strong ethical principles). I am too small to draw conclusions, but I'd like to think no life is without purpose, even though not all purposes might be noble or acceptable or good or right... I guess these people exist to challenge us as a whole in the ways we deal and fight the negativity in us and find our way to the light. For example, the Holocaust was a painful and shameful page in our collective book, but some good did come out of it, it brought awareness in the collective mind of what hatred can do and why it should be avoided (granted, some will learn faster and some might resist it). Not that we needed another reminder, or maybe we did - something so shocking you can't pretend it isn't there anymore. I don't know. Hera quote:Originally posted by Mblake81:It's what sense you make out of it.Basically, yes. I agree with this. Joy11I've been into existentialism lately, and I really resonate with the idea that there isn't an inherent "meaning" in life. We all create our own meanings from what existentialists call the "facticity" of life. In other words, facts are facts, they contain no intrinsic meaning. It is the human mind/soul that projects meanings onto these facts. Understanding this has helped me deal with a sense of emptiness. I can create meaning. I don't know if that's the same idea you were getting at, since "making sense" doesn't necessarily imply "meaning," but that's what came to my mind.------------------I can help you figure out your dreams, and guide you in how to use them to transform your life.www.sleepingrealities.comFollow me on Facebook!facebook.com/sleepingrealitiesFollow my blog!http://sleepingrealities.blogspot.comSunChildLife by default, is a riddle.
